Published Work #1: Illustrating A Japanese Folklore 'Urashima Taro'

Writer's picture: Kanako WakabayashiKanako Wakabayashi

This post is about my past book illustration work, which was for a well-known Japanese folklore 'Urashima Taro'. It is available from Yellow Bird Project, who creates electronic picture books and audio books.

The rough summary of the story is ;

A long time ago, a young fisherman Taro saves a turtle which was being bullied by children on the beach. The turtle invites Taro to the underwater castle in return for his kindness. He spends delightful time there, but when he has returned to his homeland three days later, he encounters a shocking fact...

It's mainly available in electronic forms, but you can also purchase paperback books on Amazon (not available at general bookstores), which contain both Japanese and English texts.
