This is the second book I illustrated for Yellow Bird Project, following the previous work Urashima Taro. I feel very honoured to have created illustrations for one of my favourite stories.
I enjoyed the process of producing illustrations very much - reading back the original story and doing research about Victorian/Edwardian English gardens, costumes and furniture.
The story includes characters who have wounds in their hearts, but start to be healed through gardening and the kindness of people around them. I would highly recommend the original book if you have not tried it yet.
